Nexus Mods & Status Update

Hey, I have uploaded the mod to the Nexus Mods' Resident Evil HD page so, if you don't like the current download methods, you can use their service to get the mod. Here's the link:
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilbiohazardhdremaster/mods/6.
I've also added a Mediafire single-link mirror to the download page.

About the mod:
It's still being worked on, but the progress has slow down quite a bit because I'm really busy with irl stuff. However, I expect to post some progress update in a few weeks. Here's a small breakdown of how are things at the moment:
  • Backgrounds: I'm redoing some of the worst looking backgrounds of the v1.0 release, restoring some losts details and fixing some shimmering issues with the animated backgrounds. That takes quite time because I need to manually do it with the graphics tablet and in the case of the animated backgrounds, most of them have 30 frames per background so it's really laborious.
  • 3D Objects: Until the backgrounds are done I won't be doing more work on this. Most of the textures don't look good only with an upscale so I will have to recreate some or manually tweak the A.I. upscales.
  • Cutscenes: I have managed to improve the results I showed last month, but it's still a test and it won't be part of the v1.5 release.
That's all, I hope to be able to show some of the fixes I've been working on soonish.

  1. This is great, I hope this is going to be like RE4 HD Project.

    1. Basically, for the last four months I've been increasingly busier as each month passed and progress has stopped. Now that I have some free time, I'll go back to it but without any ETA, when it's done, it's done. Keep in mind that I'm doing this for free during my spare time and, after four months with almost zero time for myself, I need a break. Also, what I’m doing now is done by hand (fixing issues of Capcom’s textures, redrawing frames for the animated backgrounds or recreating textures that don’t look good upscaled) so it takes its time, but don't worry, I haven't abandoned the project.

    1. Hahahaha. You're not "fucking paying" me anything. I put the donation link in case someone who liked the mod wanted to support it, but I assure you that that has not been the case, as I've only got a single donation since I published v1.0 back in January.
I'm doing this for free during my free time and some people have real life obligations, you know? Maybe if I was getting some money out of this, it could have been already done, or maybe not; the fact that I've been busy for months wouldn't have changed. The new AI upscaled textures are already done. The problem is that what needs to be done are manual tweaks or recreations, depending on the texture, and those are not as fast as using an upscale software and replacing a texture. When it's done, it's done and if you don't like that, well, I don't care.

    1. I don't like those two as much as I like REmake, so not a chance, sorry. Also, I must say that before starting this project I tested some upscales with RE5 and the textures were so much better with it but once those were ingame the changes were unnoticeable despite having quadruple the resolution. Maybe someone else does it, sooner or later.

    2. that's a shame, re6 have loot of low res texture and re5 is very beatiful with enbseries for remove greenfilter and reshade =(.

  5. If you don't mind me asking, How exactly did you manage to open the textures? I also have gigapixel, and I want to play around with it a bit.

    1. Using FluffyQuack's ARCTool to unpack/repack the .arc files that contain the textures.

  6. In the original RE1 (1996), many classic paintings are borrowed from reality. What about the Remake? There are a lot of classic pictures. Can you find and paste them into the backgrounds?

    1. Well, yes and no. If they are part of the background, I can't, if they are a 3D model, then yes.
As far as I remember there are only three that are not part of the background and can be improved: Caravaggio's Judith Beheading Holofernes and Sacrifice of Isaac at the mansion basement room and a modified version of Cabanel's The Birth of Venus in the spine of the unprinted book of the residence.
I have already replaced those with high quality textures using Google's Art Project images. Unfortunately, both paintings of the basement look almost identical due to the camera angle of the room.

    2. I don’t quite understand... If the backgrounds are pics that u edit manually (according to version 1.5), then why can’t you fix the painting arts in mansion, replacing them with high-quality originals? I just found almost all the painting arts, and hoped that this would help you :(

    3. What I edit manually is, mostly, minor stuff if it is a background texture, 3D textures like that tiger statue I showed on the previous post is a bit more flexible and I can vastly improve those compared to the original.
Regarding the paintings, the problem lies in the fact that there are no individual textures for each one and it would require me to not only redraw almost the whole background but also recreate the lighting conditions for each camera angle. And, unfortunately, that's out of the question. I think it would be easier to recreate it as a 3D render than redraw the whole thing, but my 3D skills are null :/

  7. Hello my friend. I hope you haven't given up on the 1.5 update. Your work is wonderful. I am not charging. Just encouraging since the game was much more beautiful. Thank you in advance.

  8. Hello sir,

Thank you very much for the hard work you did on RE1, it was, is, and always will be my favorite game, it is the best of the series, a great scenario, a heavy and scary atmsophere and... Introduce the living dead of Sir Romero....

    MERCI!

    1. If things go well on my end it could be out relatively soon. Checking the to-do list I made, I think I'm roughly at a 75%. I just need to fix some backgrounds, finish some 3D textures upscales / recreations and test everything.

  11. How many backgrounds will be re-upscaled by a ESRGAN? I heard that combining a Gigapixel and a ESRGAN gives the best results.

    1. Well, I won't be redoing everything, just the worst looking ones. I suppose the final count will be around 500 textures, considering that the animated backgrounds usually have 30 textures per camera angle.
That part of the v1.5 is almost finished, but the 3D textures are giving me a hard time because they look awful when upscaled and I need to recreate them.
The bad news is that I'm currently on a tight schedule with no time for modding so, don't expect anything before June-July 😥

  13. Great Job
I'm a newbie user in the mod world.

sorry if i ask a dumb question.

Can i apply your Reupscale mod with the fluffy 5000?, or do i have to replace the entire folder in the installation directory obligatory?

    Thank you any way.

    1. I haven't tried the mod with Fluffy 5000 but it should work. Try it and if it doesn't work, just replace the folder.
